Individuals have Control Over Fate According to Assorted Short Stories

Man does indeed have control over his destiny according to a plethora or authors. Evidence of this thesis is put forth in such short stories as The Revolt of Mother, by Freeman, the Yellow Wallpaper, by Gilman, Chickamauga, by Bierce, A Respectable Woman, by Chopin, and Open Boat, by Crane. The stories share one main element in common, and that is that all of the main characters must overcome significant obstacles, and they do so by taking charge of the situation, instead of the situation overcoming them, thus illustrating that they do have a choice in how they react to situations.
