The rate of poverty in the world and even in this country is growing instead of decreasing. Urban churches are right in the midst of poverty and they need to be a place that welcomes the poor and gives them love and caring. The Bible mentions the poor dozens of times. This essay explores what the Bible says about the poor and how Jesus felt about the poor.
